Reptex Privacy Policy

Reptex ("we", "us", or "our") is operated by SJO Global Pty Ltd. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the Reptex mobile application ("the App"). We are committed to complying with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

By using Reptex, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account information — When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password via Firebase Authentication.

App content you create — We store the reptile profiles, care and health logs, enclosure records, manual environmental readings, reminders and breeding records you enter. Optional keeper information includes your name, licence number, licence category, issuing state/authority and licence dates. Records are associated with your account in Cloud Firestore; uploaded animal photos are stored in Cloud Storage for Firebase.

Device and usage data — We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand app usage and improve the App. It collects installation identifiers and device/usage information. App events and properties can include feature usage, keeper state, licence category, animal count and animal species/morph/sex. We do not describe this information as categorically anonymous. The current App does not provide an in-app analytics opt-out setting. We do not collect the Android Advertising ID (AAID) and do not use advertising identifiers; on Android the App removes the advertising-ID permission the analytics SDK would otherwise add and disables advertising-ID collection.

Location information (optional) — The App includes an optional "seasonal" feature. If you enable it in Settings and grant location permission, the App reads your device's location to calculate local daylight and seasonal timing for lighting-schedule guidance and seasonal care reminders. This location is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to our servers or any third party. On Android the stored coordinates are held in a dedicated file that is excluded from cloud backup and device-to-device transfer. You can turn the feature off at any time; on Android, turning it off deletes the stored coordinates. On any platform, clearing the App's data or deleting your account removes the stored location. Location access is never required to use the core App.

Issue reports and feedback — When you send feedback or report an issue, we store your account identifier, email address, message and submission details in Firestore, including scrubbed technical diagnostics such as operation names, error codes, timestamps and app version/build. These diagnostics are held in memory until you submit a report; the App does not use Firebase Crashlytics.

Purchase information — Reptex Pro and the optional, separate Reptex Breeding subscription are auto-renewing subscriptions processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play Billing) and managed through RevenueCat. Breeding requires an active Reptex Pro subscription. We do not receive or store your payment card details. RevenueCat processes subscription and purchase history and uses your Firebase user ID to associate subscription access with your account after sign-in.

Notifications — Care reminders are scheduled locally on your device. The App also integrates Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) and can store a notification token associated with your account for push notifications. Notification permissions can be changed in your device settings.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and maintain the App and your account.

To send care reminders and notifications you have set up.

To calculate local seasonal/daylight timing on your device when you enable the optional location feature.

To verify your Reptex Pro and Reptex Breeding subscription access.

To investigate issues you report and improve App performance and usability.

To respond to your support requests.

We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.

3. Data Sharing

We share your data only with the following trusted service providers, each bound by their own privacy policies: Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Analytics, Cloud Messaging and Cloud Functions); RevenueCat (subscription management); Apple (App Store In-App Purchases, push notifications); and Google (Google Play Billing for Android subscriptions).

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request. Location data processed by the optional seasonal feature stays on your device and is not shared with these providers.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers, which may be located outside Australia. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain account and app content while needed to provide the service. You can delete your account and data at any time — see https://reptexapp.com/delete-account. Limited information may remain temporarily in backups or with service providers under their retention policies and our legal obligations. Analytics and subscription records may be subject to separate provider retention. Deleting a Reptex account does not itself cancel an Apple or Google Play subscription; manage subscriptions through the App Store or Google Play.

6. Users aged 13-17

Reptex is available to users aged 13 and over. If you are under 18, you should use Reptex with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian, and only they should authorise any subscription. We do not show ads, do not use advertising identifiers, and collect only what is needed to run the App. A parent or guardian may contact us to access or delete a minor's account.

7. Children under 13

Reptex is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe we have, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles you may request access to, or correction or deletion of, your personal information, turn off the optional location feature, and withdraw consent for push notifications via device settings. To exercise these rights, contact us below.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time and will update the effective date above. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
